Brentwood Plastics, Inc., now Brentwood Industries, Inc., was founded in Reading, Pennsylvania, on August 25, 1965.
1970
Brentwood is sold to the Dana Corporation, a steel company interested in investing in plastics.
1971
Palle Rye joins Brentwood as Plant Manager and doubles sales within his first four months.
1971
We begin manufacturing interior truck components for Mack Trucks, Inc., the start of a long-standing relationship that gave us expertise in heavy gauge forming.
1973
Brentwood purchases its first automatic inline thermoforming machine to make plastic drift eliminators. This spurred the development of countless cooling tower products and industry innovations that are now pillars of our business.
1975
The Rye family purchases Brentwood.
1978
We learn the punch and die process to create Koroseal, or plate wrap, for industrial batteries.
1979
Brentwood custom builds a thermoforming machine for the medical industry to manufacture catheter trays up to 60 inches long. We remain a leader in catheter tray length today.
1981
Brentwood Plastics, Inc. officially becomes Brentwood Industries, Inc. on July 2, 1981.

Rita Rye, Palle’s wife, joins Brentwood to oversee the finance department. She personally wrote each check that was sent over the next few years and ensured Brentwood was in top financial standing.
1987
Brentwood enters the water treatment market by creating tube settler media, thanks in large part to our experience in making cooling tower fills.
1989
We open a facility in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, aimed at making Brentwood a vertically integrated business. Millions of pounds of material are now recycled here annually.
1989
Brentwood begins making plastic wheelbarrow pans at the request of a farmer in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. To this day, it is the highest quality wheelbarrow on the market. We also produce a pink version that is frequently used in the community for charity raffles and fundraisers.
1989
Trickling filters begin using plastic media to improve treatment efficiency, and Brentwood leans on its cooling tower media experience to enter the wastewater industry.
1993
Peter Rye, Palle’s son, joins Brentwood with a background in mechanical and electrical engineering. He moves to Reading with his wife, Leigh, and daughter, Caitlin (his son, Oliver, was born the following year).
1994
Brentwood purchases a facility in Hope, Arkansas, designed to serve the southern region of the United States.
1995
We expand to Martinsburg, West Virginia, after running out of manufacturing space in Reading.
2001
Brentwood receives state support to expand our business in Reading. The new building features 200,000 square feet of manufacturing space and continues to support all Brentwood product lines today.
2001
Brentwood goes global! We open a manufacturing and distribution facility in Thailand, following the success of several large projects completed in Southeast Asia.
2003
We acquire Polychem Systems to expand our offering to the wastewater industry.
2005
Palle sets a milestone sales goal to hit $100 million. He penned this goal on a napkin while out to lunch, which is now framed and displayed in a boardroom at our headquarters.
2006
Brentwood begins manufacturing AccuVent upon noticing a gap in the construction market for a fire-resistant, thermally dynamic ventilation product.
2007
The first European sales office is opened in the Czech Republic with the goal of expanding our cooling tower and wastewater product lines.

Brentwood develops the StormTank product to manage stormwater runoff.
2010
Palle decides to retire and is succeeded as President of the company by Peter.
2014
Brentwood makes the difficult decision to shift its headquarters by purchasing new office and warehousing space. The Rye family remained true to the company’s roots and made sure to stay in Reading.
2014
Following the acquisition of Integrity Plastics, Inc., a third facility is purchased in Reading to allow for the expansion of injection molding capabilities.
2015
Brentwood enters the Indian power market and purchases a 16-acre industrial campus for sales and manufacturing.
2018
Our medical packaging business expands to Tijuana, Mexico, with the purchase of a clean room manufacturing facility.
2020
Brentwood uses its plastics manufacturing expertise during the COVID-19 pandemic to develop a face shield product. Many face shields were donated to local hospitals in the areas we operate.
2022
Brentwood acquires Enexio Water Technologies, GmbH, and 2H Water Technologies, Ltd, providing complementary products for our cooling tower and water product lines and furthering our European presence by adding locations in Germany and the UK.
2023
Employees and business partners come together to celebrate the lives of Palle and Rita Rye, our fearless leaders who passed away within a year of one another.
2024
Caitlin Banta succeeds her father, Peter Rye, as President & CEO. Peter remains engaged in the business as Chief Strategy Officer.
